Woodland Retreat
A project focused on restoring native plant species in local ecosystems.
A peaceful haven on the forest’s edge
The Andersons wanted to embrace the natural beauty of their forest-side property. They envisioned a garden that blended seamlessly with the surrounding woods while offering functional spaces for quiet reflection and family gatherings.
A raw and undefined space
The property had potential but lacked any clear design. The yard was overrun with weeds, and the dense tree canopy left the soil compacted and barren in areas. The Andersons wanted to maintain the natural feel of the woods but with thoughtful enhancements to make the space inviting.
Native plants and natural pathways
To preserve the woodland charm, we used native plants like ferns, hostas, and wildflowers that thrived in shaded conditions. Natural stone pathways were added to guide movement through the space, and we introduced a cozy firepit area surrounded by log seating. Low-impact lighting highlighted key areas while maintaining the serene, natural atmosphere.
A harmonious woodland escape
The result was a tranquil retreat that felt like an extension of the forest. The Andersons now have a peaceful outdoor space where they can connect with nature, host family gatherings, or simply enjoy the quiet. The garden’s seamless integration with the woods makes it a true sanctuary.
